Apple watches third series three released on 22 September 2017 with discontinuation of Apple watch series. Apple Watch series 4 announced on 12 September 2018. The goal of Apple Watch was to enhance uses of an iPhone with some additional features.

It allows you to leave your phone behind. If you are not bound to any 3rd party app, then the native activity app has almost all features that will are required to log those miles and will also keep you motivated.

Runs are not good on the battery life. If you are a night jogger, you may find yourself running on empty. At times, the battery may die before you finish your run. The run will not be shown up in your activity log. Activate the power saving mode from the Apple Watch, go to Settings/General/Workout and toggle the Power Saving Mode option.
