Google May Offer a Subscription Service for Play Store Called “Play Pass”

Google is believed to be surreptitiously working on an app subscription service for Google Play. As mentioned by compelling evidence discovered in a report, Google Play is planning to introduce a subscription service called ‘Play Pass’ that will offer users paid apps and games for a monthly fee.
Users can now subscribe to Netflix or Amazon Prime for getting access to a rotating catalog of TV shows and movies. Also, we have Kindle Unlimited for digital books and audiobooks, and Microsoft with some of its competitors have also offered subscription services for video games.
Chief evidence that the Google is developing a “Play Pass” feature was spotted by the mobile software development community “XDA” early in June when a code containing a reference to “PLAYPASS_SUBSCRIPTION” was noticed by it.
Also, 9to5 Google noted that many Android games are free of cost for users to play and make money on in-app purchases, such as the extremely popular and trendy “Fortnite” that became extensively available earlier this month.
If “Play Pass” gets to fruition, it would be considered as a hint that Google is leaning toward premium games or that it may present monthly credit toward in-app purchases.
Google hasn’t yet instantaneously responded to a request for comment. However, if you think subscription services are the future of app distribution on mobile, or if you do consider such experiments a future failure, or if you have anything to say about it, we’ll be honored to have you share your views.
